About Mr. Schneider

I was born and raised in New Jersey and have always had my ties to Monroe Township (my grandparents lived here). Since I was in high school, I knew that I wanted to be a music teacher, so I went to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN for my Bachelor's and Master's degrees. I also got my start teaching at several schools down there and volunteered at the W.O. Smith Community Music School.

I have been teaching at Monroe Township Middle School since 2011. Before then, I worked throughout New Jersey with a few band programs. While I've been working at MTMS, I've been primarily focusing on General Music, Music Theory, Music Technology, Piano and Guitar.

What about outside of school?
Outside of school hours, I still stick around MTMS and music. For 2015, I will be starting the Monroe Township Community Band (rehearsing at MTMS). In addition, I play in several performing groups including the Central Jersey Wind Ensemble, Maplewood's Community Band and "Swingtown" Jazz Band, and (on occassion) the Metropolitan Orchestra of New Jersey.

My main instruments are french horn and trumpet, both of which I can teach in private lessons (e-mail if interested). In addition, I arrange music for all types of bands and my marching band arrangements in particular can be heard played by the Vanderbilt University and Columbia University bands.

Ok, but what about non-musical things?

For fun, I do music.

In all seriousness though, I also enjoy to cook, travel, eat, take pictures, and just relax. To do so, I'll sometimes just retreat to the Poconos or Catskills and enjoy the mountain air. If I can't travel, I'll just throw on the television or Netflix and watch whatever's on.  I've two kids, an adorable dog named Dixie (on the left), and two cats.
